“History
is littered with societies that over-exploited their resources, they
are all now extinct. We are rapidly moving to the same situation. By
designing rationally however, we can set up the systems we need for
good living in such a way that they don’t destroy or pollute.
Permaculture is the most coherent system yet devised.”
-Steve Read, Permaculture designer & teacher.
"Permaculture
offers a radical approach to food production and urban renewal, water,
energy and pollution. It integrates ecology, landscape, organic
gardening, architecture and agro-forestry in creating a rich and
sustainable way of living. It uses appropriate technology giving high
yields for low energy inputs, achieving a resource of great diversity
and stability. The design principles are equally applicable to both
urban and rural dwellers”
- Bill Mollison, Co-author of ‘Permaculture 1 & 2’ and author of ‘The Permaculture Designer’s Manual
“Permaculture has become a trendy buzz word that many use but few understand”
-Dave , Vegan Organic Smallholder
These
pages have been put together by the South East Essex Permaculture Group
to give a brief overview of Permaculture and hopefully clear up a few
misconceptions... In time we’d like to develop this site to give
several examples of Permaculture in action, particularly in the South
East Essex region, and also to provide an on-line Permaculture
Introductory Course.
