ABOUT
US
South East
Essex
Organic Gardeners were formed in 1994 to promote the principles of
organic gardening, which include the composting of organic waste, the
protection of wildlife, the reduction of pollution and the
encouragement of species diversity.
The group is
affiliated
to Garden Organic, the
working name of Henry Doubleday Research Association, the national
charity for
organic growing and the Soil Association.
SEEOG holds
regular
public meetings, attends two local farmers’ markets, exhibits at
shows and open days, organises outings and gives talks.
Meetings are
held
bi-monthly on a Monday at St. David's Church Hall, 400 Rayleigh Road,
Eastwood in January, March, May, July, September and November. Please
see Newsletter for dates and details. Non-members can attend for a
small charge. New members are always welcome, whether or not they
have a garden or allotment.
This website is intended as a
source of information both to local gardeners, as well as to all who
practice or are interested in organics, wildlife gardening,
permaculture, compost making, biodiversity or related subjects, and
includes virtual tours of SEEOG members gardens and/or allotments.

join SEEOG or for any other enquiries contact our secretary, Carole Shorney

NEWS
EDIBLE GARDEN CRAWL
Transition Westcliff plan to arrange an Edible
Garden Crawl in the summer. SEEOG have some considerable expertise in
arranging this kind of event, as we used to open some of our gardens
for Garden Organic many, many years ago. We could publicise the event
through our newsletters, joint websites and posters with logos of both
groups on them. What would be your ideas for the project? And would you
be willing
to take part? For more details see Transition
Westcliff
GREAT BRAYS ORCHARD
Denise at Great Brays Fruit Farm needs help to
maintain and retrieve her orchard of apples and pears. She is able to
offer people the chance to learn practical orcharding skills in
exchange for practical help. See newsletter for more details.
ORGANIC GARDENING SEMINARS
We are delighted to announce that we have secured a
grant to support a series of seminars designed to
encourage the “growing of your own food” both on an
allotment, in your own garden and even on the patio using the
principles of organic gardening. These will take place
around the Southend-on-Sea, Rochford, Castle Point and Basildon area in
conjunction with Robert Wiseman, local horticultural lecturer, judge
and exhibitor.
These seminars will start in early 2009 and continue on a regular basis
both in the evenings and weekends until 2011. More information
