Diploma support

sdc10308Graham completed his Diploma in Permaculture Design in September 2001 and is now a part of the team working on developing the Diploma into being a vital qualification for thriving in a post energy descent future…

He is available to provide Tutorial and Design support for those working towards the Diploma either by telephone, email or on a one to one basis.

Graham also runs Permaculture Diploma Design Support Days, offering opportunities to hone your design skills with both mentor and peer support. These are intended to provide positive inputs and feedback for both those just starting out on their Diploma pathway as well as those who feel close to accreditation.

Some of the aims and outcomes of these tutorial days will be to:

  • Answer any questions around the Diploma process.

  • Clarify the permaculture design process and revisit the permaculture ethics, principles and design methods.

  • Share ideas and give valuable feedback on each others design work.

  • Create mutual support networks to help keep you on track.

  • Provide clarity on the criteria and the process leading to accreditation.

The core of a Design Support Day will be to provide you with the feedback you need to improve and develop your skills as a permaculture designer. It is suggested that you bring along two or three designs from your portfolio (these projects can be at any stage; one or two might be fairly well developed, some, particularly if you are just starting out, might still be little more than rough ideas) which will be evaluated in order to give you new insights and understanding of the design process. You will also have the opportunity to gain extra ideas and inspiration from your peers, and have a chance to form or develop Action Learning Guilds that can provide you with mutual support on a regular ongoing basis.

If you are well into your Diploma pathway, you’ll be looking ahead to accrediting. If you are just started, it’s helpful to know where you’re heading, so we will also spend some time looking at the Criteria for Accreditation and answering any questions you may have around these.

Design Support Days can be run anywhere that there is space for a small group to gather comfortably (recommended up to 6 participants maximum), a largish front room would be perfect, and typically the host will will receive their tutorial inputs as an exchange payment.
